A Perfect Summer Sip

Summertime is the perfect season to try out new and unique icy drinks for those sweltering days in the sun. Whether you are traveling to the beach or the pool, or simply the comfort of your own porch or balcony, here is a recipe for a refreshing summer sippy, grown with our own mint plants!

(A few weeks ago, we decided to buy some plants for our apartment balcony that would produce things we could eat ourselves. We bought three different varieties of pepper plants, a cherry tomato plant, parsley, and…chocolate mint!? All the plants are currently bearing their fruits. We’ve eaten peppers and parsely in our pasta, and crafted a tasty, not-too-sweet drink recipe to share with you!)

  • 2 TBSP Honey
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 sprig of mint (we used chocolate mint, but I’m certain you could interchange a different kind to your preference/availability)
  • 1 C water
  • 1 C Sprite  (the water and sprite are also interchangeable. You can use all Sprite or all water, depending on what you’re in the mood for. Or you can do what we do and mix the two for a nice balance.)

Heat up the honey, juice two lemon halves, and mix together. Pour in water and Sprite, mix, and then add your sprig of mint. Add ice cubes to cool off the drink, and mix the mint spring down to the bottom to disperse the flavors. Pour into two glasses and serve.

Cheers! 🙂

Let me know if you guys try this and what you think!
